Alegedly, the character of Johnny Fontaine from Mario Puzzo's The Godfather was based on Frank Sinatra. Was this inspiration only skin-deep (i.e. in them both being italoamerican singers) or was there any actual analogy between the Story of book's Fontaine and Sinatra's life?
